Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for Med Surg patients with 1:6-7 patient ratios
• Administer and monitor heparin drips and other medication drips
• Provide PCA management and pain assessment
• Perform colostomy care and feeding tube care and management
• Administer blood products safely and monitor for reactions
• Manage central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Perform phlebotomy and IV starts
• Manage patients with dysrhythmias and implement O2 protocol management
• Provide non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy management
• Implement isolation precautions and proper PPE usage
• Care for patients with traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, and spinal cord injuries
• Manage surgical drains and chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac)
• Provide nasal cannula oxygen therapy and oral suctioning
• Perform comprehensive wound care
• Utilize Epic documentation system for patient charting
• Care for patients with severe injury to bones, joints, and soft tissue
• Manage patients with subdural hematoma and neurological trauma
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments
• Complete 12-hour unit orientation and 16-hour organizational education
• Complete required modules pre-start and annually (8-10 hours)
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Pass EKG testing prior to start
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
