Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in a PCU/stepdown unit with cardiac telemetry monitoring
• Care for patients with cardiac conditions including post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and various cardiac diagnoses
• Monitor and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and manage appropriate interventions
• Manage cardiac drips including titration as required
• Perform sheath removal and post-procedural care for cardiac interventions
• Provide care for patients with chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems
• Manage patients requiring external CPAP/BIPAP and non-invasive airway management
• Utilize Epic charting system for comprehensive patient documentation
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Work night shifts (36 hours weekly) with 1:4 to 1:6 patient ratios based on acuity
• Float between units following rotation schedule as needed
• Work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation and required pre-start modules
• Operate special equipment including EKG machines, Doppler, bladder scanners, and cardiac monitoring devices
• Provide care for patients undergoing cardiac surgeries, vascular procedures, and thoracic surgeries
• Pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
• Participate in Storm Team/Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
