Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide cardiac nursing care on progressive care unit (PCU) with ratios of 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
• Manage cardiac drips including titration as required
• Perform sheath removal and manage femoral sheaths post-cardiac procedures
• Provide pre and post cardiac catheterization care
• Care for patients post-cardiac surgery, including CABG, valve replacements, and other cardiac procedures
• Manage chest tubes using Emerson/PleurEvac systems
• Provide airway management including nasal cannula, CPAP/BIPAP
• Perform arterial line management when required
• Conduct wound care and manage wound vacs
• Care for patients with various cardiac diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, and cardiomyopathy
• Utilize special equipment including doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, and epicardial pacing wires
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float between units following rotation schedule and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Pass EKG testing prior to start
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Complete required pre-start and annual modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles)
• Work assigned storm team and/or hurricane team during catastrophic events
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Provide weekend coverage with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
