Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Stepdown to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for stepdown patients with cardiac conditions including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, and various cardiac surgical procedures
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
• Manage patients pre and post cardiac catheterization procedures
• Administer and manage cardiac drips without titration as well as titrate cardiac drips when required
• Perform sheath removal and manage femoral sheaths
• Provide care for patients with chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems
• Manage patients requiring external CPAP/BIPAP and non-invasive airway management
• Care for post-surgical patients following CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, and other cardiac/vascular procedures
• Utilize special equipment including doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, TR bands, and epicardial pacing wires
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients
• Float between units following unit rotation schedule as needed
• Work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Work as part of Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Provide wound care and wound vac management when applicable
• Manage arterial lines when required
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
