Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for cardiac patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias using telemetry equipment • Manage patients with various cardiac conditions including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, and cardiomyopathy • Provide pre and post-operative care for cardiac procedures including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, and cardiac catheterizations • Administer and manage cardiac drips without titration and titrate cardiac drips as needed • Perform sheath management and sheath removal procedures • Manage chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems • Provide respiratory support including external CPAP/BIPAP and nasal cannula • Utilize specialized equipment including Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, and epicardial pacing wires • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients • Float between units following unit rotation schedule as needed • Work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles) • Pass EKG testing prior to start • Adhere to facility fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Complete 24-hour unit orientation program • Provide care for adult and geriatric patient populations • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
