Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with cardiac conditions and post-surgical patients • Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias • Manage and titrate cardiac drips as prescribed • Perform sheath management and removal for cardiac catheterization patients • Provide care for patients with chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems • Manage patients requiring external CPAP/BIPAP and other non-invasive airway management • Care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients including CABG, valve replacements, and TAVR procedures • Monitor patients with arterial lines, femoral sheaths, TR bands, and epicardial pacing wires • Provide pre and post cardiac catheterization care • Manage patients with various cardiac diagnoses including CHF, atrial fibrillation, ACS, and cardiomyopathy • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Maintain BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules • Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed • Work weekend requirements of 4 shifts per 4 weeks • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and other support services • Provide wound care and wound vac management • Utilize special equipment including Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG machines, and cardiac monitoring devices • Follow unit protocols for medication administration using Pyxis system • Communicate effectively using SBAR methodology • Adhere to fatigue policy restrictions of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
