Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for adults and geriatrics in medical/surgical setting
• Maintain minimum 2 years of nursing experience with Med/Surg background
• Manage insulin and heparin drips safely and effectively
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Maintain current BLS certification throughout assignment
• Perform charge nurse duties during night shifts
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6-7 patients
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
• Work every other weekend as assigned
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Provide care for potential COVID patients using appropriate precautions
• Participate in Inclement Weather Team and Storm/Hurricane Team assignments
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters when required
• Perform wound vac dressing changes and wound care
• Manage high flow oxygen therapy and limited short-term BiPap support
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months
• Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state)
• Accept call requirements if put on call for prescheduled shifts
• Work 36 or 48 hours per week as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
