Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with cardiac focus • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias • Manage patients with cardiac conditions including post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and various cardiac surgeries • Administer and manage cardiac drips without titration and titrate cardiac drips as appropriate • Perform sheath removal and manage femoral sheaths post-procedure • Care for patients with chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems • Provide respiratory support including external CPAP/BIPAP and non-invasive airway management • Monitor and care for patients with epicardial pacing wires • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients • Float between units following unit rotation schedule as needed • Work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period • Complete 24 hours of unit orientation • Pass EKG testing prior to start of assignment • Work assigned shifts during storm team/hurricane team events or catastrophic situations • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care) • Maintain current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications • Provide care for adult and geriatric patient populations • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and other support services • Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) as required
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
