Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - NICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care to neonatal patients in NICU setting
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:2-4 as assigned
• Administer medications including blood products, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, antivirals, insulin, and vasopressors
• Manage respiratory support including ventilators, high frequency ventilation, bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nitric oxide
• Perform arterial line management and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Provide central line care and blood draws from central lines
• Manage chest tubes and provide tracheostomy care
• Administer surfactants and manage therapeutic hypothermia
• Provide feeding support including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings
• Handle breast milk and provide breastfeeding support
• Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion and maintenance
• Monitor patients on telemetry and provide continuous monitoring
• Care for patients with gastroschisis, omphalocele, and colostomy/ileostomy
• Manage umbilical artery and vein catheters
• Provide developmental care and thermoregulation
• Perform APGAR scoring and neonatal dosage calculations
• Provide patient and family education
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float to PICU, pediatrics, or pediatric ED as needed
• Work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Complete 12 hours of orientation
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain current BLS and NRP certifications
• Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of experience
• Adhere to facility dress code wearing navy scrubs
• Maintain valid compact state nursing license
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
• Use facility-provided communication devices when required
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in TX
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
