Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - NICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for neonates in NICU setting
• Maintain patient ratios of 3:1 during day and night shifts
• Administer medications including blood products, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, antivirals, insulin, IV vasopressors, and steroids
• Manage respiratory support including ventilators, high frequency ventilation, bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nitric oxide, and oscillators
• Perform arterial line management and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Provide central line care and blood draws from central lines
• Manage chest tubes and umbilical artery/vein catheters
• Conduct feeding support including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings
• Provide breastfeeding support and handle breast milk safely
• Monitor and care for patients with tracheostomies
• Perform phlebotomy and maintain IV access
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Participate in developmental care practices and thermoregulation
• Provide patient and family education
• Float to PICU/pediatric units as needed
• Work 12-hour night shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Complete 12 hours of unit orientation
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain current BLS and NRP certifications
• Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of experience
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including PT, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
• Care for patients with diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, and HIE
• Use facility-provided communication devices when required
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in TX
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
