Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse in Medical Surgical Telemetry unit • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 target (maximum 1:7 during high census periods) • Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring • Maintain current BCLS certification (ACLS and NIH preferred) • Work 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15 • Float between medical, surgical, and telemetry units as needed • Assist in caring for patients held in Emergency Department who are inpatient • Work every other weekend as required • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation • Use Pyxis medication dispensing system and SBAR communication • Pass EKG testing prior to start date • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Participate in self-scheduling per unit needs • Complete 24-hour unit orientation • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias • Implement isolation precautions as needed • Manage nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management • Provide peripheral line care and management • Utilize rapid response teams when appropriate • Care for adult and geriatric patients with medical-surgical diagnoses • May be required to care for patients with COVID-19 • Report to work during Storm Team/Hurricane Team assignments • Comply with fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Maintain valid North Carolina or Compact state nursing license • Provide two supervisor references from within the past 12 months • Adhere to navy and/or white scrub dress code requirements
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
