Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in Med/Surg unit with 1:5-6 patient ratio on nights • Maintain current BCLS certification • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation • Float between units within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed • Work 12-16 weekend shifts per contract • Complete 24-hour unit orientation program • Pass EKG testing before start date • Adhere to fatigue policy - no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) • Provide care for patients with diagnoses including dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and other typical Med/Surg conditions • Perform telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management • Administer blood products and manage IV insulin protocols • Provide colostomy care and feeding tube care and management • Manage pre/post hemodialysis care • Perform central line blood draws and PICC line management • Start IVs and perform phlebotomy • Manage chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems • Provide CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula care • Perform oral suctioning and non-invasive airway management • Follow isolation precautions for COVID patients • Provide wound care including wound vac management • Utilize Pyxis medication system • Communicate using SBAR format • Work with interdisciplinary team including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Rapid Response Teams • Be available for Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Complete required compliance documentation and certifications
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
