Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical/surgical patients with 1:5-6 patient ratios during 12-hour night shifts
• Manage patients with various diagnoses including dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fractures
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Administer blood products and manage IV insulin protocols
• Provide colostomy care and feeding tube care & management
• Manage pre/post hemodialysis care for renal patients
• Perform central line blood draws and PICC line management
• Start IVs and manage peripheral line care
• Administer heparin and operate PCA pumps
• Manage chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems
• Provide respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Perform oral suctioning and manage various oxygen delivery systems
• Implement isolation precautions for COVID patients
• Provide wound care and operate wound vac systems
• Access ports and manage surgical drains
• Utilize Epic charting system for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
• Participate in rapid response team activations
• Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 12-16 weekend shifts per contract
• Attend 24 hours of unit orientation plus hospital orientation
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable pre-start and annual training modules
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Maintain BCLS certification throughout assignment
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Follow facility dress code requirements (Navy/White scrubs)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
