Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for general medicine patients with focus on neurological conditions • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 during night shifts • Utilize Epic documentation system and SBAR communication methods • Administer medications using Pyxis medication dispensing system • Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications • Complete EKG testing prior to start date • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias • Provide telemetry monitoring and interpretation • Start IVs and manage peripheral line care • Perform non-invasive airway management and nasal cannula oxygen therapy • Implement and maintain isolation precautions as needed • Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals based on census and skill set • Work every other weekend as required • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Complete 24 hours of unit orientation • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable pre-start and annual training modules • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state) • Provide care for adult and geriatric patient populations • Complete required compliance testing within 48 hours of contract signing • Participate in charge nurse responsibilities when assigned (preferred experience)
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
