Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric medical/surgical patients with patient ratios of 1:6-7 • Manage insulin and heparin drips safely and effectively • Perform wound vac dressing changes and provide wound care • Monitor patients on high flow oxygen and BiPap respiratory support • Serve in charge nurse role during night shifts as required • Utilize Epic charting system for all patient documentation • Float to similar units and alternate care locations based on census needs • Work every other weekend as assigned • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Maintain current BLS certification throughout assignment • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days and 60 hours per week • Provide care for patients with general medical/surgical diagnoses • Manage peripheral lines, start IVs, and provide telemetry monitoring • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias • Care for surgical drains and post-operative patients • Work with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, respiratory services, and rapid response teams • Complete 24-hour unit orientation program • Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start date • Maintain professional teamwork approach and adhere to behavioral expectations
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
