Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care services as an RN in Medical Surgery Telemetry unit
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 during normal staffing (maximum 1:7 during critical staffing)
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings and dysrhythmias
• Start IVs and manage peripheral line care
• Administer blood products and medications including heparin and insulin
• Provide care for patients with CVAs, feeding tubes, and surgical drains
• Perform wound care and manage wound vac systems
• Access and manage central line blood draws and ports
• Maintain current BLS certification and obtain ACLS and NIH certifications as preferred
• Utilize Epic charting system for all documentation
• Pass EKG testing prior to start of assignment
• Float to similar units and affiliate hospitals as needed based on census
• Work every other weekend as required
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Maintain teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations
• Comply with call-off policies and attendance requirements
• Wear required scrubs in navy and/or white colors
• Utilize facility systems including Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication
• Participate in self-scheduling process
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
