Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PreOp to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x10 Days at a leading Hospital in Salem, OR. Key Responsibilities:
• Utilize the nursing process to provide safe, quality healthcare to patients in surgical services settings including Pre-Surgical Screening, Prep/Recovery, Operating Room, Endoscopy, and PACU • Work 4-10 hour shifts with variable start times of 0900 or 1100 • Maintain current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse • Maintain current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association • Obtain AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire for Endoscopy and Prep/Recovery • Obtain AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire for Prep/Recovery and PACU • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation • Provide patient care in various surgical specialties including cardiac, neuro, ortho, general surgery, and trauma procedures • Perform pre-operative assessments and education • Manage Phase II Recovery patients • Administer medications including narcotics, anticoagulants, and emergency medications • Monitor patients using End-Tidal CO2 monitoring and other assessment tools • Manage pain assessment and PCA pumps • Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed • Complete required modules pre-start and annually (non-billable, up to 8 hours) • Perform IV insertion and maintenance • Provide discharge instructions and medication reconciliation • Manage post-epidural and post-procedural care • Respond to cardiac arrests and emergency situations • Work with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in OR
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
