Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care in a 30-bed neurotrauma care unit for patients with brain or nervous system disorders including strokes, traumatic brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, brain tumors, meningitis, encephalitis, and spinal injuries • Maintain patient ratios of 1:3-4 patients • Manage cardiac drips including nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, heparin gtts, and ketamine gtts • Perform telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias • Conduct NIHSS assessments, swallow screens, and spine immobilization procedures • Provide pre and post neurosurgery care including craniotomy patients • Manage lumbar drains and CSF drains at bedside • Perform bedside NG tube placements • Administer blood products and manage central line care • Provide non-invasive airway management including CPAP/BIPAP and high flow nasal cannula • Manage chest tubes using Emerson/PleurEvac systems • Perform peripheral line care and PICC line management • Administer PCA and epidural analgesia • Titrate insulin drips and follow IV insulin protocols • Provide post cardiac angiogram and post MI care • Manage post TPA care for stroke patients • Handle substance withdrawal patients • Implement isolation precautions and proper PPE usage • Activate rapid response teams when necessary • Utilize Epic charting system for computerized documentation • Float to affiliate hospitals including West Valley Hospital as needed • Work every other weekend as required • Maintain current BLS certification through AHA • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (non-billable up to 8 hours) • Provide care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in OR
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
