Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical-surgical patients with oncology history in an inpatient setting
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 with flexibility for higher ratios during increased census periods
• Work night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) on a 4x12-hour schedule
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding in ED as required
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Perform colostomy care, access and manage ports, and administer blood products
• Manage central lines for blood draws and PICC line management
• Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection routes
• Monitor and manage patients on heparin and insulin drips
• Care for surgical drains and chest tubes using Emerson/Pleur-evac systems
• Provide nasal cannula oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
• Implement and maintain isolation precautions as needed
• Perform wound care including wound vac management
• Utilize PYXIS medication system and document in EPIC charting system
• Communicate using SBAR methodology
• Care for patients with diagnoses including AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, malignant neoplasms, ARF, encephalopathy, and diabetic foot ulcers
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Report to work during mass casualty events or disasters as required
• Complete make-up shifts for any called-out shifts
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Maintain BLS certification and work toward ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification
• Complete all compliance testing within 48 hours of signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
