Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PACU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Days at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide observation and care for patients who have undergone surgical procedures requiring anesthesia in Phase 1-2 PACU • Recover patients directly from OR, EP Lab, Endo, IR, MRI and ICU patients requiring recovery before unit admission • Manage patient recovery for 30 to 90 minutes until discharge criteria are met for Phase II, home, post-op tower or ICU • May recover surgical patients in ICU setting and upgrade/manage ICU level of care in PACU • Send PACU RN to STICU to recover patients as needed • Recover and discharge Phase II patients during nights and weekends • Manage overnight patients designated for tower and/or ICU • Maintain 1:2 patient ratios consistently • Work 12-hour shifts from 0645-1915 on 3x12 schedule • Float to areas of overflow patients, typically surgical short stay unit • Take call once every four weeks as required • Work varied weekend shifts as assigned • Maintain current ACLS, BCLS, and PALS certifications • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation • Operate cardiac monitors for blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, O2 saturation • Manage arterial lines, ICP monitoring, dopplers for vascular checks, fetal heart monitors • Operate EKOS, SCD pumps, and wound vacs as needed • Use Pyxis medication system and Perfect Serve communication system • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty or disaster as part of Storm/Hurricane Team • Complete required modules and training programs pre-start and annually (8-10 hours non-billable) • Maintain valid RN license (NC or Compact state) • Provide minimum 2 years of experience with ICU background required • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
