Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for adult patients with neuro surgical procedures and neuro diagnoses • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6-7 patients during night shifts • Utilize Epic charting system for documentation and patient care management • Pass EKG testing prior to start date for this specialty • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Float between units within hospital or to affiliate hospitals based on census and skill sets • Work 12-16 weekend shifts per contract as required • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments as needed • Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters when required • Maintain current BCLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications • Perform medication administration including heparin and insulin protocols • Manage telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias • Provide pre/post neurosurgery patient care • Perform wound care and wound vac management • Start and maintain peripheral IVs and provide line care management • Manage surgical drains and provide non-invasive airway management • Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols • Complete unit orientation including 2 shifts on the unit after hospital-based orientation • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams • Maintain valid NC or Compact state nursing license • Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months • Complete lab testing within 48 hours after contract signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
