Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide observation and care for patients who have undergone surgical procedures requiring anesthesia in Phase I recovery unit
• Receive and recover patients directly from OR, EP Lab, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, MRI, and ICU transfers
• Monitor patients during 30-90 minute recovery periods until discharge criteria are met
• Manage patient discharges to Phase II, home, post-operative tower, or ICU based on recovery status
• Provide Phase I-II PACU care with patient ratios of 1:2
• Recover and discharge Phase II patients during nights and weekends
• Manage overnight patients requiring tower and/or ICU level care
• Utilize ICU experience to upgrade and manage higher acuity patients in PACU setting
• Accompany PACU patients to STICU for recovery when required
• Float to areas with overflow patients, typically surgical short stay unit
• Provide care for diverse patient populations including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Manage patients with various surgical diagnoses including vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, general, bariatric, plastic, ENT, and ophthalmology procedures
• Operate specialized equipment including cardiac monitors, arterial lines, ICP monitoring devices, dopplers, fetal heart monitors, EKOS, SCD pumps, and wound vacs
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Utilize Pyxis medication management system
• Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
• Participate in call requirements once every four weeks
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays as required
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Adhere to fatigue policy limitations of maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Provide minimum 2 years of nursing experience with required travel experience
• Complete comprehensive individualized orientation based on experience and skill level
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
