Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for medical-surgical patients with oncology history
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 during night shifts
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection routes
• Manage colostomy care and access ports for treatments
• Administer blood products and perform central line blood draws
• Provide peripheral line care and management including PICC line management
• Administer heparin and insulin drips as prescribed
• Manage surgical drains and chest tubes using Emerson/Pleur-evac systems
• Provide nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions and wound care including wound vac management
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding in ED
• Work storm team and hurricane team assignments during catastrophic events
• Report to work during mass casualty or disaster situations as required
• Work every other weekend as scheduled
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete make-up shifts when called out from prescheduled shifts
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Utilize PYXIS medication system and SBAR communication methods
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation over 2 shifts
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Maintain BLS certification throughout assignment
• Complete lab testing within 48 hours of contract signing
• Adhere to fatigue policy of maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
