Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for neurology and general medicine patients in a 24-bed unit with 1:6 patient ratios • Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications throughout assignment • Pass EKG testing prior to start for specialty requirements • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation and care coordination • Use Pyxis medication system and SBAR communication protocols • Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals as needed based on census and skill sets • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) as required • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually through online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes • Participate in 24-hour unit orientation program • Provide care for patients with CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident), dysrhythmias, and general medical conditions with neuro focus • Manage telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms • Perform peripheral line care, IV starts and maintenance, and non-invasive airway management • Implement isolation precautions and infection control measures as needed • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams • Demonstrate teamwork approach to patient care and focus on patient safety in all interactions • Work every other weekend (5-6 weekend shifts per contract) • Serve on Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters • Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days and 60 hours per week • Maintain professional appearance adhering to navy blue scrub requirements • Complete lab testing within 48 hours after contract signing • Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months • Maintain valid NC or Compact nursing license
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
