Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for adults and geriatrics in medical-surgical setting • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6-7 • Administer and monitor insulin drips and heparin drips • Perform wound vacuum dressing changes • Manage high flow oxygen therapy • Provide short-term BiPap support with respiratory assistance • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Utilize PYXIS medication management system • Perform charge nurse duties on night shift as required • Float to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients as needed • Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) • Work every other weekend as assigned • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Report to work during mass casualty events or disasters as required • Maintain current BLS certification • Complete CPI certification as preferred qualification • Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually • Complete 24-hour unit orientation program • Provide care for potential COVID patients with appropriate precautions • Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state) • Provide two supervisor references from within past 12 months • Complete all compliance testing within 48 hours of contract signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
