Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical-surgical patients with patient ratios of 1:6-7
• Manage patients with severe injuries to bones, joints, and soft tissue
• Care for patients with traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, and neurological trauma
• Administer heparin drips and manage other medication drips
• Provide colostomy care and feeding tube care and management
• Administer blood products safely and monitor patient responses
• Perform central line care and management
• Provide peripheral line care, management, and IV starts
• Perform phlebotomy procedures
• Manage PICC lines and associated care
• Monitor and manage patients with dysrhythmias
• Implement oxygen protocol management and non-invasive airway management
• Provide care for patients with surgical drains and chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac)
• Perform tracheostomy management and oral suctioning
• Provide comprehensive wound care
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Adhere to facility policies including dress code requirements
• Maintain valid RN licensure throughout assignment
• Provide two supervisory references from within the past 12 months
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
