Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for adult and geriatric medical/surgical patients
• Manage insulin drips and heparin drips safely and effectively
• Perform wound vac dressing changes and wound care management
• Monitor patients on high flow oxygen therapy
• Provide care for patients requiring short-term BiPap with respiratory support
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6-7 during night shifts
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Perform charge nurse duties on night shift as required
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients as needed
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• Maintain current BLS certification throughout assignment
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Provide peripheral line care and management
• Implement appropriate isolation precautions
• Work with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Complete 24-hour unit orientation program
• Maintain professional standards and comply with fatigue policy limitations
• Provide care for COVID patients when required
• Work assigned shifts of 12-hour nights for 36 or 48 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
