Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - ICU Neuro to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the ICU Neuro unit with 2:1 patient ratios (can flex to 3:1 when needed)
• Manage care for stroke patients including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, SDH, craniotomies, and post-neurosurgery patients
• Operate and monitor specialized neurological equipment including EVDs, Lumbar Drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Perform IV starts, manage ventilated patients, and administer blood products
• Provide central line care and management of continuous IV sedation
• Monitor and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and manage appropriate interventions
• Manage CVA/Acute Stroke patients and provide post-craniotomy care
• Monitor ICP and manage external ventricular drains and lumbar drains
• Maintain isolation precautions and proper PPE usage
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals as needed based on census and skill set
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles)
• Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Pass EKG testing requirements prior to assignment start
• Complete 24-hour unit orientation over 2 days/nights
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
