Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive maternal and neonatal nursing care in Mother Baby/LDRP unit • Serve in multiple roles including labor and delivery nurse, baby nurse, C/S circulator, C/S PACU recovery RN • Provide antepartum care including NST, OCT, sterile speculum and vaginal exams, and triage of obstetrical patients • Perform fetal monitoring using external and internal monitoring, spiral electrode placement, and IUPC • Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns • Administer IV therapy, draw venous blood, start and maintain peripheral IVs • Administer medications including anticonvulsants, Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Prostaglandins, and Terbutaline • Assist with high risk and vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction, and manage hemorrhage/shock • Circulate and scrub for C-Section procedures • Provide neonatal care in delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and thermoregulation • Perform newborn care including assessments, circumcision assistance, metabolic screening, and phototherapy • Provide pain management including epidural, IV conscious sedation, and PCA monitoring • Deliver postpartum care for vaginal delivery, C-Section, couplet care, and multiple births patients • Manage postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension • Provide patient and family education including discharge teaching and circumcision care • Maintain patient ratios of 1:3-4 for postpartum and 1:1-2 for labor patients • Utilize Epic charting system and Pyxis medication management • Complete 36 hours of unit orientation • Work 4 weekend shifts per 6-week period • Complete non-billable training modules pre-start and annually • Maintain required certifications including AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRP, and STABLE • Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols • Complete compliance testing within 48 hours of assignment start
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
