Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide labor and delivery nursing care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care
• Manage patient ratios of 2:1 in a fast-paced environment with average 20 births in 24 hours and 30-40 admits
• Handle double labor assignments as daily occurrences on the unit
• Perform sterile vaginal examinations and provide competent immediate newborn care
• Circulate for scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and assist with rescue cervical cerclage procedures
• Conduct triage of obstetrical patients in the obstetrical triage unit
• Perform routine outpatient procedures including antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration
• Start and maintain IVs for patient care
• Conduct pain assessment and management for patients
• Interpret telemetry and perform OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Tests)
• Implement isolation precautions and proper PPE protocols
• Respond to infant/neonatal arrest situations
• Utilize Epic charting system, PYXIS, and SBAR communication methods
• Float as needed to Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit within women's services
• Work every other weekend with minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Precept and orient new staff members to the unit as needed
• Maintain current BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Complete all required compliance testing within 48 hours
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
