Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for medical surgical patients with telemetry monitoring in a float position covering multiple units
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 target ratio during normal staffing (maximum 1:7 ratio during high census/critical staffing)
• Float between medical/surgical floors and affiliate hospitals as assigned by Centralized Resource Nursing Pool
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 - 07:15
• Work every other weekend as required
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Provide peripheral line care and management
• Implement isolation precautions as needed
• Manage non-invasive airway interventions including nasal cannula
• Utilize Rapid Response and Code teams when necessary
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Complete EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually
• Participate in 24-hour unit orientation
• Maintain current BLS certification (ACLS and NIH preferred)
• Adhere to self-scheduling per unit needs
• Care for adult and geriatric patients
• Provide care for patients held in ED who are awaiting inpatient placement
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team
• May be required to care for patients with COVID-19
• Adhere to facility fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Complete required compliance documentation and maintain valid nursing licensure
• Demonstrate teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
