Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for adults and geriatrics in medical/surgical unit with 1:6-7 patient ratios
• Perform charge nurse duties during 12-hour night shifts
• Manage insulin drips and heparin drips safely and effectively
• Perform wound vac dressing changes and provide wound care
• Monitor patients on high flow oxygen and limited short-term BiPap with respiratory support
• Utilize Epic charting system for all patient documentation
• Use PYXIS medication dispensing system and follow SBAR communication protocols
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding as needed
• Work every other weekend and be available for call if put on prescheduled shift
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Provide care for potential COVID patients following appropriate isolation precautions
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation upon start
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Maintain current BLS certification and CPI certification
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 days in a row and/or 60 hours per week
• Comply with facility dress code requirements wearing navy scrubs
• Maintain valid NC or Compact state nursing license
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
