Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care to medical-surgical and oncology patients with a target ratio of 1:6
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments via IV, PO, or injection routes
• Manage patients with complex diagnoses including AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, malignant neoplasms, and diabetic complications
• Perform specialized nursing skills including colostomy care, accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line management
• Manage PICC lines, heparin drips, insulin administration, surgical drains, and chest tubes
• Provide wound care and wound vacuum management
• Monitor and manage patients requiring nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Implement appropriate isolation precautions as needed
• Utilize PYXIS medication system and document patient care in Epic electronic health record
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding in the ED as required
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Accept call requirements if called off on a pre-scheduled shift
• Participate as assigned on Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or disasters
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation over 2 shifts
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Maintain current BLS certification and work toward obtaining ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification
• Provide two supervisor references from within the past 12 months
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
