Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in Med Surg unit with 1:6 patient ratios during 12-hour night shifts
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles)
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Float between units within hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed based on census and patient needs
• Provide care for general medicine patients with focus on neurological conditions
• Demonstrate teamwork approach to patient care with focus on patient safety
• Manage patients with CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) and interpret/manage dysrhythmias
• Perform peripheral line care/management and IV insertion
• Provide telemetry monitoring and nasal cannula oxygen delivery
• Implement isolation precautions and non-invasive airway management
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Maintain valid NC or Compact state nursing license
• Work every other weekend (5-6 weekend shifts per contract)
• Complete 24-hour unit orientation
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from within past 12 months
• Complete laboratory testing within 48 hours after contract signing
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
• Maintain professional appearance in required navy blue scrubs
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
