Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse in Medical Surgical unit with focus on neurological patients • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 patients during night shifts • Utilize Epic documentation system for patient charting and SBAR communication • Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications • Pass EKG testing prior to start and demonstrate competency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management • Provide care for adult and geriatric patients with general medicine diagnoses, focusing on neurological conditions • Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed based on census and skill set • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Complete 24-hour unit orientation program • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually • Work 5-6 weekend shifts per contract (every other weekend) • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned and demonstrate leadership skills • Manage peripheral IV lines, start IVs, and provide non-invasive airway management • Implement isolation precautions and maintain patient safety protocols • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams • Utilize Pyxis medication dispensing system for medication administration • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events • Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Complete required compliance testing within 48 hours of assignment • Maintain valid nursing license (North Carolina or Compact state) • Provide two supervisor references from within the past 12 months covering comparable specialty experience
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
