Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Orthopedics to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct nursing care to orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients with 5-7:1 patient ratios • Manage pain medications effectively for high post-surgical and orthopedic patient population • Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation • Float to other med-surg units within the facility based on census and staffing needs • Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement • Maintain current BLS and NIH certifications • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start • Provide customer service-oriented patient care in fast-paced environment • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Administer blood products and manage central line care • Manage PCA pumps, surgical drains, and peripheral nerve block catheters • Provide pre/post neurosurgery care and spinal cord injury management • Care for total joint replacement and hip trauma patients • Utilize rapid response teams when needed • Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols • Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state) • Complete lab testing within 48 hours of contract signing • Provide two manager/supervisor references from past 12 months • Adhere to fatigue policy of maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
