Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide registered nursing care for medical surgical telemetry patients with GI conditions, blood loss, anemia, infections, renal conditions, and post-surgical patients • Monitor cardiac rhythms for patients in telemetry beds • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6, with understanding that ratios may reach 1:7 during staffing challenges • Perform IV starts and manage peripheral line care • Administer blood products and manage central line care • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and ABGs • Operate telemetry monitoring equipment and respond to cardiac rhythm changes • Provide wound care and manage wound vacs • Manage surgical drains and post-operative patient care • Administer PCA pumps and follow heparin protocols • Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and external CPAP/BIPAP • Manage patients with renal failure and associated treatments • Implement and maintain isolation precautions as required • Utilize rapid response teams when appropriate • Document patient care using Epic charting system and SBAR communication • Float to other medical surgical units as needed based on census and staffing requirements • Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement • Complete 36 hours of unit orientation and pass EKG testing prior to start • Maintain current BCLS and ACLS certifications • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy • Manage fast-paced environment with high patient turnover
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
