Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse in Med Surg Telemetry unit • Care for patients with GI conditions, blood loss and anemia, infections, renal conditions, and post-surgical GI patients • Monitor cardiac rhythms for patients in telemetry beds • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6, with flexibility to accept 1:7 during staffing shortages • Perform IV starts and maintain peripheral line care/management • Administer blood products and manage central line care • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases • Utilize telemetry monitoring and external CPAP/BIPAP equipment • Implement heparin protocols and PCA management • Provide wound care including wound vac management • Manage surgical drains and renal failure patients • Document patient care using Epic charting system with SBAR communication • Float to other med/surg units/floors as needed based on census and staffing requirements • Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) • Work every other weekend as required • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Complete 36 hours of unit orientation • Pass EKG testing prior to start • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Maintain current BCLS and ACLS certifications • Utilize rapid response/code teams when necessary • Implement isolation precautions as needed • Manage non-invasive airway management including nasal cannula and oxygen face masks • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Complete laboratory testing within 48 hours of contract signing • Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state) • Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
