Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients
• Maintain patient ratios of 5-6:1, with flexibility up to 7:1 in extreme cases
• Manage complex pain medication protocols for high post-surgical and orthopedic patient population
• Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Administer blood products and manage central line care
• Provide care for patients with PCA pumps and peripheral nerve block catheters
• Monitor and manage patients with spinal cord injuries and pre/post neurosurgery conditions
• Care for patients with total joint replacements and orthopedic trauma
• Manage surgical drains and provide post-operative care
• Utilize Epic charting system for documentation
• Float to other med-surg units within the facility based on staffing needs and census
• Work every other weekend and make up missed weekend shifts
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain current BLS and NIH certifications
• Pass EKG testing prior to start
• Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Maintain customer service orientation in all patient interactions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy
• Utilize rapid response teams when appropriate
• Complete lab work and testing within 48 hours of contract signing
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
