Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care to medical surgical telemetry patients with 1:6 patient ratio • Care for surgery patients including colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, and orthopedics/spine cases • Monitor and interpret telemetry readings and dysrhythmias • Start IVs and manage peripheral lines, PICC lines, and central line care • Administer blood products and manage PCA pumps • Provide pre/post hemodialysis management for renal failure patients • Manage chest tubes using Emerson/Pleur-evac systems • Perform wound care including wound vac management • Care for surgical drains and feeding tubes • Follow heparin protocols and isolation precautions • Utilize Epic charting system for documentation • Work with Pyxis medication dispensing system • Float occasionally to other units based on census and skill set • Work every other weekend and 12-hour night shifts • Work 2 out of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Maintain BLS certification and pass EKG testing prior to start • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Adhere to call-off policy and fatigue policy restrictions • Participate in self-scheduling based on unit needs • Complete 36-hour unit orientation • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams • Maintain teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
