Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide registered nursing care to medical-surgical patients with a focus on neurological conditions
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Maintain NIH stroke scale certification
• Manage patient ratios of 1:6
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Use Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Communicate using SBAR format
• Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals based on census and skill set
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Work 5-6 weekend shifts per contract (every other weekend)
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Pass EKG testing prior to start
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Provide care for adults and geriatric patients
• Manage patients with general medicine diagnoses focusing on neurological conditions
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Provide telemetry monitoring
• Manage CVA (cerebrovascular accident) patients
• Start and maintain IVs and provide peripheral line care
• Perform non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and other support services
• Demonstrate teamwork approach to patient care
• Adhere to fatigue policy (maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week)
• Report to work during catastrophic events or disasters as assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team
• Complete lab testing within 48 hours after contract signing
• Maintain valid NC or compact state nursing license
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months
• Follow manager-created block scheduling
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
