Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown patients with 1:6 patient ratios
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and utilize Rapid Response Teams
• Administer blood products and manage central line and peripheral line care
• Manage surgical drains, wound care, and wound vacuum systems
• Provide non-invasive airway management including nasal cannula and high flow nasal cannula
• Maintain isolation precautions and perform wound care procedures
• Operate and monitor special equipment including chest tubes, NG tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, and Penrose drains
• Care for patients with wide range of surgical and trauma diagnoses including appendicitis, cholecystitis, motor vehicle accidents, cancers, and peripheral vascular disease
• Support patients undergoing various surgical procedures such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, and amputations
• Document patient care using Epic charting system and SBAR communication
• Float to like units when needed based on census and skill sets
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Complete required modules pre-start and annually (8-10 hours for acute care)
• Maintain BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications
• Pass EKG testing prior to start
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Complete 2 days of hospital orientation and 24 hours of floor training
• Maintain teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
