Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for medical/surgical and telemetry patients with 1:6-7 patient ratios
• Administer and monitor IV heparin drips and insulin drips safely
• Perform blood product administration according to established protocols
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias appropriately
• Maintain current BLS certification throughout assignment
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Utilize Epic documentation system and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Float to similar units within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Provide peripheral line care and management
• Perform wound care including wound vac management
• Implement isolation precautions when required
• Manage PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia) systems
• Provide non-invasive airway management
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Work as part of Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events
• Report to work during disasters or mass casualty events when required
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Maintain valid nursing license and provide two supervisory references
• Pass EKG competency test for telemetry specialty
• Complete all required compliance testing within 48 hours of signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
