Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide registered nursing care to medical surgical telemetry patients including orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical patients
• Maintain patient ratios of 5-6:1, with potential to flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases
• Manage pain control for orthopedic and spine patients requiring comprehensive pain management protocols
• Perform IV starts and provide telemetry monitoring for cardiac patients
• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for patient documentation and charting
• Float to other medical surgical units within the facility based on census and staffing needs
• Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) with every other weekend requirement
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start date
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable training modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain current BLS and NIH certifications, with ACLS preferred
• Provide blood product administration and manage central line care
• Monitor and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and manage appropriate interventions
• Care for patients with surgical drains, PCA pumps, and peripheral nerve block catheters
• Manage high-flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BIPAP, and various oxygen delivery systems
• Provide pre and post neurosurgery patient care including spinal cord injury patients
• Care for total joint replacement and orthopedic trauma patients
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy
• Utilize rapid response and code team protocols when required
• Maintain customer service-oriented approach to patient care delivery
• Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days and 60 hours per week
• Complete all compliance testing within 48 hours of contract signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
