Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for medical surgical telemetry patients in an overflow/ED holding unit environment • Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias for patients with various medical and surgical diagnoses • Start and maintain IVs and provide peripheral line care/management • Access ports and provide central line care/management • Manage chest tubes using Emerson/PleurEvac systems • Provide care for patients requiring medical intervention or surgical procedures • Manage cardiac drips without titration • Provide non-invasive airway management and nasal cannula oxygen therapy • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6-7 during night shifts • Utilize telemetry monitoring equipment for continuous cardiac monitoring • Document patient care using Epic charting system, PYXIS, and SBAR communication • Float to similar units as needed based on census and skill sets • Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays • Participate in Rapid Response and Code team activities as needed • Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols • Assist with procedures and diagnostics as ordered by providers • Support patient flow from emergency department to inpatient units • Complete 72 hours of unit orientation including EKG testing • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications • Provide care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services • Use facility communication devices including Voalte phones • Adhere to fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Maintain valid NC or compact state nursing license
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
