Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Orthopedics to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care to orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients
• Maintain patient ratios of 5-6:1, with potential to flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases
• Administer pain medications and manage pain control for post-surgical and orthopedic patients
• Perform IV starts and provide telemetry monitoring
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Float to other med-surg units within the facility based on census and staffing needs
• Float to affiliate hospitals as required
• Provide customer service-oriented patient care
• Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Maintain current BLS certification and obtain NIH certification
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Care for adult patients with orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, and spinal cord injuries
• Manage peripheral and central lines, surgical drains, and PCA pumps
• Administer blood products and follow heparin protocols
• Provide pre and post neurosurgery patient care
• Utilize rapid response and code teams when necessary
• Complete laboratory testing and compliance requirements within 48 hours of signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
