Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, subdural hematomas, brain tumors, and other neurological diagnoses
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias using telemetry
• Manage and care for patients with 1:6 patient ratio
• Administer medications and blood products as prescribed
• Perform IV starts and manage peripheral lines, PICC lines, and central line care
• Manage feeding tubes and provide care for patients with nasal cannula and high flow nasal cannula
• Document patient care using Epic charting system
• Float to other medical-surgical and telemetry units as required based on census needs
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Respond to rapid response and code team situations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy
• Manage patients with substance withdrawal and traumatic brain injuries
• Provide care for patients with spinal cord injuries and seizure disorders
• Complete 36 hours of unit orientation
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain current BLS certification and obtain ACLS certification
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Adhere to facility dress code requirements
• Comply with fatigue policy limiting work to no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
