Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for surgery patients including colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, and orthopedics/spine patients • Maintain 1:6 patient ratio during night shifts • Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring • Interpret dysrhythmias and manage telemetry equipment • Administer blood products and manage central line care • Provide peripheral line care and management • Implement isolation precautions as needed • Manage nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management • Utilize rapid response and code teams when necessary • Document patient care using Epic charting system • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Maintain current BLS and NIHSS certifications • Pass EKG testing prior to assignment start • Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) • Work every other weekend as required • Work 2 out of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) • Float occasionally to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals based on census and skill sets • Complete 36 hours of unit orientation • Adhere to self-scheduling based on unit needs with nurse manager input • Comply with fatigue policy - no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Maintain teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions • Adhere to strict call-off policy requirements • Wear navy blue or white scrubs as per dress code • Provide two manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months • Complete required testing within 48 hours of signing contract
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
