Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive obstetrical nursing care for patients 16 weeks and greater for intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care • Maintain 2:1 patient ratios in a fast-paced, high-acuity birthing care unit • Perform sterile vaginal examinations and provide competent immediate newborn care • Circulate for scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births • Provide obstetrical triage services to screen patients prior to admission • Perform routine outpatient procedures including antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration • Assist with rescue cervical cerclage procedures • Start and maintain peripheral IVs • Conduct pain assessment and management • Perform telemetry interpretation • Maintain current BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced, and NRP certifications • Utilize Epic charting system and PYXIS for documentation and medication management • Float between units and affiliate hospitals as needed based on census and skill sets • Work every other weekend with minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) • Complete required pre-start and annual training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles) • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Maintain valid NC or Compact state nursing license • Complete 24 hours of unit orientation • Provide care for neonates, adolescents, and adults in a 20-room unit with average of 20 births per 24 hours
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
