Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse in Med Surg Telemetry unit
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:6
• Care for stroke patients, neurosurgery patients, and patients with neurological diagnoses including epilepsy and traumatic/non-traumatic subdural hematomas
• Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Maintain current BCLS, NIH, and NIHSS certifications
• Work 12-hour night shifts for 36 hours per week
• Work every other weekend as required
• Float to other Med Surg/Telemetry areas and COVID care units as needed
• Utilize PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR systems for patient care and documentation
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Complete 36 hours of unit orientation
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable pre-start and annual training modules
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Make up any called-off shifts within the same week or at end of contract
• Adhere to preferred scheduling requirements
• Comply with fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days and 60 hours per week
• Complete required compliance testing within 48 hours after signing
• Maintain valid RN license (NC or Compact)
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems [Epic, Cerner, etc. preferred]
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
