Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Neuro to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care for stroke patients, neurosurgery patients, and other neurological diagnoses including epilepsy and traumatic/non-traumatic subdural hematomas
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:5-6 on medical surgical neuro unit
• Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Utilize EPIC charting system, PYXIS, and SBAR communication methods
• Maintain current BCLS and NIHSS certifications
• Pass EKG testing prior to start of assignment
• Float to other medical surgical/telemetry areas and COVID care units as required
• Provide specialized care in 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit with 4:1 ratio when assigned
• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Complete 36 hours of unit orientation
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Make up any missed shifts within the same week or at end of contract
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Comply with dress code requirements
• Complete all compliance documentation and testing within 48 hours of signing
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems [Epic, Cerner, etc. preferred]
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
