Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - ICU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in San Pedro, CA. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care as an ICU Registered Nurse with charge experience • Maintain 1:2 patient ratios for adolescent and adult patients • Manage patients with respiratory failure, severe sepsis/septic shock, GI bleed, stroke, and DKA • Perform arterial line management and assist with chest tube insertion/removal • Administer blood products and manage continuous IV sedation • Care for ventilated patients and manage ventilator settings • Provide central line care and PICC line management • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias • Titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive medications • Assist with BiPAP and CPAP management and high flow nasal cannula • Implement hypothermia protocol and Arctic Sun management • Perform CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) • Conduct target temperature management procedures • Start and maintain IVs and perform suctioning (ETT, NT) • Manage surgical wounds with drains and wound vacs • Administer procedural sedation and monitor patients • Follow isolation precautions and infection prevention protocols • Implement IV insulin protocols for diabetic patients • Float to telemetry unit and affiliate hospitals as required • Utilize Meditech charting system for documentation • Complete pre-start and annual training modules • Maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NIH stroke scale certifications • Work weekends as needed and commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays • Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within last 3 years • Use facility-provided communication devices when required • Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in CA
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
